Communiqué of the General Secretariat
On 9 October 2021, the Generalate of the Society had two zoom meetings:
a first one with the leadership of the East Asian Mission Vicariate and all the confreres from Vietnam, and
a second one with the leadership of the Indian Mission Vicariate and the confreres from Sri Lanka.
During these meetings, after a short prayer, the Superior General, Fr. Milton Zonta, announced officially
the establishment of the Mission Unit of Vietnam and the Mission Unit of Sri Lanka, both dedicated to the
Divine Saviour,
In his inauguration speech, Fr. Milton appointed the coordinators of both missions:
Fr. Joseph Nguyen Chi Cong SDS will be the superior of the Vietnam Mission and
Fr. Patrick Damien Raj Peries SDS will coordinate the Salvatorians in Sri Lanka.
After having shortly looked into the history, the Superior General thanked the leaderships of the East Asian
and the Indian Mission Vicariate for their efforts and tireless commitment to make both new Missions
grow and expressed his deep wish to the confreres of the new units,
to keep praying and working together, without forgetting that our Society exists to evangelize.
Also, the present superiors of the “Mother-Units” were given the floor as well as the confreres who had
been coordinating the communities in place up to now. All expressed their gratitude on this occasion and
their desire and hope that our Society may keep growing in its service to the people, trusting in God and
whose members are willing to offer their entire life to Him who has called us all!
Congratulations to all and happy Feast ofMater Salvatoris!
P. Agustín Van Baelen SDS
Secretarius Generalis
