✝ MIECZYSŁAW PISKORZ SDS

09/11/2025 - Tychy

He was 60 years old and had been professed for 35 years.

Br. Mieczysław Piskorz

Brother Mieczysław Franciszek Piskorz was born on February 18, 1965, in Czernin, Lower Silesia Voivodship. He was baptized on March 21, 1965, in Czernin. After completing primary school (1972-1980), he attended a three-year vocational school in Głogów, where he trained as an electronic systems and industrial automation technician. In 1984-1987, he performed his state-mandated military service, which was interrupted for a year due to health reasons. He then worked, among others, in a steel mill and a distillery in Leszno.

Participation in retreats and days of recollection with the Salvatorian Vocations Center helped him discern his vocation. On September 7, 1989, he entered the novitiate of the Society in Bagno. In his application, he wrote: “I had become assured of my vocation, which I would like to fulfill in the Society of the Divine Savior.” He made his first religious vows on September 8, 1990, in Bagno. After his temporary profession, he was transferred to the community in Więciórka, and then to the religious community in Krakow, where he performed his assigned duties.

He made his perpetual profession on September 8, 1994, in Krakow, choosing as his motto the words of our Founder, Francis Mary of the Cross Jordan: “O Mother of God, Almighty Advocate, I entrust my fate into your hands, stand by me, protect me.” Within the Krakow community, he held various functions, including that of consultor to the local community and scrutator. For many years, he was actively involved in the mass intentions’ office in Krakow.

Since the late 1990s, Brother Mieczysław had been struggling with progressive multiple sclerosis, which had affected a significant part of his life; however, it did not take away his willingness to work, which he continued to do, to the best of his ability. He spent the last years of his life at Salwator Park in Mikołów (from 2020), struggling with illness and suffering, which, as he himself pointed out, he kept offering for the intentions of the Society and for new priestly and religious vocations.

Brother Mieczysław Piskorz died on November 9, 2025, in Tychy, at the age of 60 and in his 36th year of religious life. The funeral ceremony took place on November 17, 2025, in Krakow, and the Holy Mass was presided over by Bishop Karol Kulczycki SDS. The body of Brother Mieczysław was laid to rest in the religious community tomb at the cemetery in Krakow.
