✝ ROBERTO HERREROS MARTÍNEZ SDS
RIP: 29/05/2025 - Logroño, ES
He was 78 years old and had been professed for 59 years.

Father Roberto Herreros Martínez was born on October 12, 1946 in Baldarán, La Rioja, into a simple farming family. At the age of 12 he entered the Latin American Seminary in Logroño of the Salvatorians. In Logroño he did his Novitiate (1961-65) and two years of Philosophy. He completed theology studies in Passau (Germany).
Back in Logroño he was ordained a deacon on February 28, 1974, in the Cathedral of Calahorra, and received priestly ordination on June 22 in the Diocesan Seminary of Logroño. For two years he was assigned to the Parish of San Miguel in Fuencarral (Madrid), and in 1977 he was elected superior of the Spanish pro-province, with care of the formation of students in Madrid and Pastor of Santa Lucía Parish in Madrid. In 2006 he was assigned to the mission of Guatemala and in 2007 he was again appointed Pro-Provincial and returned to Spain. At the end of the term, he returned to Guatemala in 2013. He had always been available to go to the mission where he had always been very happy and grateful.
On June 22, 2024, he celebrated with the diocesan and Salvatorian community his 50 years of priesthood, that is, his Golden Jubilee. He had been treated for prostate cancer with Radium, believing that it was already under control, but two months later a metastasis was discovered. At the end of 2024 he started two cycles of chemo and in January 2025, he was told that the cycles in several sessions of chemo were not doing anything and that he was getting worse. In addition to the comings and goings to the emergency room for cardiovascular problems he finally died in hospice care in Logroño on May 29, 2025. He was 78 years old, with 59 years of religious profession and 51 of priesthood.
