Brother Jeremiah Saria was born on June 22, 1974, in Kondoa Parish, to parents Andrea Michael Safari and Maria Tereza Salala. He was born into a family of seven children—six boys and one girl. He attended primary school from 1985 to 1991 in Kondoa. For his secondary education, from 1992 to 1995, he completed Form Four at St. Augustine Minor Seminary in Bihawana, Dodoma. And from 1999 to 2000, he attended Form Five at St. Benedict Seminary, Namupa.
He joined the Salvatorians on July 20, 1998, at Namiungo, and was received as a candidate. In June 1999, he entered the postulancy stage and began his novitiate on December 7, 2000, in Nakapanya, Tunduru. He took his first vows on December 8, 2001, in Namiungo, and made his perpetual vows on January 1, 2008, at the formation house in Morogoro.
After taking his first vows, Brother Jeremiah was sent to study nursing at St. Benedict Nursing School in Ndanda in 2002 and graduated with a diploma in 2006. His assignments included St. Joseph Dispensary, Namiungo from 2006-2011 and then Mkuranga Dispensary from March 10, 2011 until his passing. Brother Saria had been suffering from high blood pressure for a long time. However, this did not prevent him from fulfilling his duties, as he managed the condition with medication and continued with his normal life.
In the last month of his life, he began to suffer from flu accompanied by fever and joint pain, which eventually made him unable to continue working at the dispensary. Two weeks before his death, he began experiencing back pain and started receiving treatment for it. He did not appear critically ill until May 5, 2025 when his condition worsened, and he was taken to Mkuranga District Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment. Brother Jeremiah was a peaceful and gentle person. Joyful and community-loving. He was diligent in his responsibilities and had a cheerful spirit. He loved cleanliness and was always neat in appearance. He was 50 years old with 23 years of religious profession. Let us remember our confrere in gratitude and prayer.
