He was 86 years old and had been professed for 68 years.

Father Hubert Ordon was born on 14 January 1939 in Babienice. After finishing primary school in 1952, he entered the Minor Seminary in Katowice, and then in 1955 entered the Salvatorian novitiate in Bagno, taking the religious name Bernardine. He took his first vows in 1956 and his perpetual vows in 1960. He studied philosophy and theology at the Salvatorian Major Seminary in Bagno. He was ordained a priest in 1963 in Trzebnica. After ordination, he worked in Zakopane and then, from 1965, he studied at the Catholic University of Lublin, where he obtained his Master’s and Doctor of Theology degrees in Biblical studies. From 1969 he taught Scripture and biblical archaeology at the seminary in Bagno. From 1974-76 he also studied at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome.
From 1978 he worked academically at the Catholic University of Lublin, where he spent more than twenty years. He was a respected author of academic publications and translator of the Gospel of St. John. He lectured in seminaries and for more than 40 years at the Salvatorian Major Seminary in Bagno. In 2006, already retired, he took up pastoral work in Germany, at the parish of St. John XXIII in Viernheim, where he served for eight years, also caring for the sick at St. Joseph’s Hospital. After returning to Poland in 2014, he settled in Lublin and, towards the end of his life, from 2024, at the Salwator Park retirement home in Mikołów. He died on 13 March 2025 in Mikołów, at the age of 86 years; 70 of which he lived as a Salvatorian, 62 as a priest.
