Fr. Czesław Idzik was born one of three children on 19 May 1944 in Podlesie, Świętokrzyskie province, Poland. In 1945, the Idzik family arrived in Regained Territories and settled in Trzebnica in Lower Silesia. There, from 1951, Czesław attended elementary and high school graduating in 1964. In 1964, he entered the novitiate of the Society in Bagno, taking the religious name Ferdinand. On 8 September 1965, in Bagno, he professed his first vows and his perpetual vows on 15 August 1970. He studied at the Salvatorian Seminary in Bagno where he was ordained deacon and priest in 1971. Fr. Czesław served in pastoral ministry within various Salvatorian communities and institutions between 1971-1985. From 1985-2014 he was a chaplain to the Borromean Sisters and then to the Benedictine Sisters from 2014 to the end of his life. He passed away to the Lord on Friday, 24 January 2025, at the St. John Paul II Hospice in Bielsko-Biała in his 80th year of life, having completed 59 years of religious life and 53 years of priesthood.
