RIP: 10/10/2022 - Mistelbach
Fr. Reinhard (Josef) Jedinger was born on 1 February 1934 in Grieskirchen, Upper Austria. After primary school he went to the Salvatorian boarding school in Lochau and graduated from high school in Bregenz in 1954. He then joined the Society, studied in Passau and Rome and was ordained priest in 1960 in St Michael’s in Vienna with five other confreres. Fr. Reinhard was chaplain and religious education teacher in Vienna-Mariahilf from 1960 to 1968, then missionary to the people in the Hamberg monastery until 1971, then prefect of studies in the Graz-Lindweg boarding school for two years. For one year he worked again in the Community Hamberg. In 1974 he returned to Vienna-Mariahilf and was pastor there from 1979 to 1983. From 1983 to 1992 was a difficult time for him. At that time he worked in Braunau-Neustadt, and in the Apostles parish of Vienna, 10th district. In 1992 he came to Vienna Kaisermühlen. He was very popular with the people and very appreciated as a hospital chaplain by the patients in the SMZ-Ost Vienna, 22nd district. In 2009 he came to Mistelbach and he was still pastoring until 2019. In the last three years he faced his limitations and sufferings with much patience, grateful for the care provided by the mobile services of Caritas. On Monday, 10 October 2022, after a prolonged illness endured with great patience, the Saviour called Fr Reinhard to himself. He was 88 years old and the day he died was exactly one day before he would have had his 67th anniversary as a Salvatorian.
