RIP: 08/04/2021 - Bad Wurzach
Fr. Paulus Blum was born on 29 June 1939 at Lindau im Bodensee, where he also did his elementary and the first years of his secondary studies. He went to the Salvatorian College at Bad Wurzach to finish his high school education, and with a deep wish to become a Salvatorian, he entered the novitiate at Klosterberg in Passau, which he finished professing his first vows in the Society of the Divine Saviour on 1 May 1960. After the ordinary studies of Philosophy and Theology, he was ordained a priest at Bad Wurzach on his birthday, the Feast of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, 1965. Seeing his excellence in music, he was sent for music studies to the University College for Music (Musikhochschule) at Stuttgart, which he concluded in 1970. From 1971 until 2002, Fr. Paulus taught music and religion at the Salvatorian College in Bad Wurzach. He was the director of the school choir that performed many musicals and concerts and had many students and people from the parish that learned to play the organ. He was a beloved organist in many parishes nearby Bad Wurzach. Apart from that, Fr. Paulus guided a lot of retreats for all kinds of people and stood in 1993 next to the cradle of the Community of Lay Salvatorians in Germany. Being very much interested in our Founder, Blessed Francis Jordan and his charism, he finished a completely updated German translation of the Spiritual Diary in 2006. Fr. Paulus died in Bad Wurzach on 8 April 2021. He was 81 years old and had been for almost 58 years a Salvatorian.
