Fr. Simon Chen Shang-I was born at Fujian in China mainland on 10 September 1929. A part of his studies he did with the Salvatorians at Macao. Simon was several times the superior of the Salvatorians in Taiwan. The evening of his life he passed in the Salvatorian community. Due to his weak health condition, he was brought to the nursing home of the Camilian Sisters at Luo-Dong in Ylan, where he passed away on 27 December 2020 while he was asleep.
