150th Foundation Jubilee Preparation

Salvatorians around the world in 2031 will be celebrating the 150th Jubilee of the foundation of our shared charism. Consequently, the members of the 150th Jubilee Preparatory Commission gathered in Rome and online on 24-27 February 2026 to begin considering how best to fulfill ordinance 7 of the XX General Chapter (2024). Here are the remarks of Fr. Krzysztof Kowalczyk, Superior General to the Commission members as they began their first meeting.

Dear Members of the Jubilee Commission,

welcome and thank you for accepting the invitation to serve on this Commission as we begin preparing for the 150th Anniversary of our Society. You come from different areas of our Salvatorian life and bring a rich diversity of gifts, experiences, and perspectives. This is exactly what we need at this important moment.

I invite you to begin our work with an open and creative spirit, to start with genuine brainstorming—sharing any ideas, even those that may at first seem too ambitious or difficult to accomplish. Once spoken aloud, ideas can inspire others to contribute, refine, or transform them into something new and achievable—something we might never reach without that initial spark. Creativity grows when it is shared.

We cannot limit ourselves to the members of this commission alone. Many others can contribute to individual projects. Please feel free to identify people who could assist your work; they do not need to be formal members of the Commission in order to contribute.

This Jubilee is not meant to be a monument to ourselves but an opportunity to empower as many people as possible so that the Great Jubilee truly belongs to all Salvatorians. Only by involving everyone—or as many as possible —we will be successful.

I am pleased to see the proposal of a “5 Year Ascent” in our initial materials. This is excellent. I appreciate the vision of a longer period of preparation, formation, and celebration. You may also consider adding a couple of years beyond the 150th Jubilee of the Society. The year 2033 will most likely be the Great Jubilee of our salvation. For Blessed Francis Jordan—who entrusted us to the Divine Saviour—this would undoubtedly be a significant moment. I believe he would want us to celebrate the Jubilee of our salvation with great devotion.

The 150th Anniversary is a moment to look back with joy and gratitude for all that the Society has accomplished. It is a time to give thanks to God for our Founder, Blessed Francis Mary of the Cross, for the foundation he established, for our Society, the Salvatorian Sisters, and the Lay Salvatorians, and for the growth and maturity of his own vision. We should not only respect his choices but also celebrate and live according to his deep sensitivity to salvation and to our mission, working in obedience to the Holy Catholic Church.

Once again, thank you — each and every one of you—for your willingness and openness to share your gifts and talents with the Society. May your work be fruitful, creative, and filled with joy. Thank you.

Bl. Francis Jordan
