Such is the apostolate of the Salvatorians in the Comoros, founded on Mt 25:35-36:
Living the Salvatorian mission and charism, which is to bring to all salvation in Jesus Christ, Salvatorians are committed to working for the dignity and salvation of children, women, and men. Father Jean-Claude Mij, a member of the Justice, Peace & Integrity of Creation Commission from Congo, and Sister Antoinette Mandola, both Salvatorians, demonstrate Jesus' love for the poor and vulnerable by providing humanitarian assistance to migrants and refugees, in close collaboration with the Comorian Ministry of the Interior, Caritas Comoros, the Anjouan Parish Caritas, and Missionary Sisters of Charity of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, based in Anjouan. These migrants and refugees come from various African countries, primarily from the Great Lakes region. A total of 331 migrants received assistance in 2025.
On behalf of the Vicariate of the Comoros, and in collaboration with various partners, they assist those in administrative detention by being present in their lives: listening attentively, improving their accommodation conditions, providing them with food and health assistance, bringing them clothes, and even assistance with administrative legalization.
During 2025, a joyous event occurred. Among the migrants in administrative detention was a pregnant woman whom Father Jean-Claude Mij and the Cathedral of Saint Thérèse of Moroni assisted until she went into labor. She gave birth to a beautiful baby, to whom we wish a merry Christmas 2025 and a Happy New Year 2026 filled with hope.
The Salvatorians extend their heartfelt thanks to the Comorian government, through its Ministry of the Interior, and to the various partners, for their open collaboration.
