The Synod has been moving along very smoothly and we are almost finished with the agenda. Today the participants spent time on the topic of International Salvatorian Formation listening to a report by Fr. Heribert Kerschgens, the International Formation Director and engaging in lively discussion with him.
In the afternoon the participants went deeper into their consideration of the four dimensions of Salvatorian Vocation (Identity), Formation, Mission and Reorganization offering ideas as to which dimension and related topic seems most urgent. The Chapter Preparation Commission will take this information to begin its work for the XIX General Chapter. The participants also received the reports from the International Vocation Team, the International Historical Commission, and the Joint International Charism Commission before ending the day. We were moved to receive a letter from a young man who has benefitted from Salvatorian ministry in Venezuela and are grateful that we sometimes receive word that we are indeed being instruments of salvation although we are not always aware of this fact.
