In partnership with the Instituto Maria Immaculata (IMI) sisters, residing near the Salvatorian Community in Amadeo, Philippines, an annual Medical Mission was held on April 13‑18, 2015 for our Mangyan brothers and sisters living in Sta. Cruz, Mindoro Occidental.
Mangyan is a collective term for a number of indigenous groups living in the region of Mindoro, a mountainous province of the Philippines. These people usually survive with the food crops they collect around their village. During this mission, Salvatorians headed by Fr. Hubert Kranz, and Fr. Hermann Preussner, together with medical and few other volunteers, provided medical check-ups and medicines, conducted catechism classes for the children, distributed clothes and food for a set number of Mangyan villages and its people.
