The day began with a Morning of Recollection led by Fr. Milton Zonta, Superior General. The participants considered the question “what have you to say about yourself?” from Jn 1:19-34.
Fr. Milton, basing himself on the Founder’s image of John the Baptist, presented him as a model for Salvatorian identity: we are not the Savior but those who proclaim the Savior.
In the afternoon, the participants were led by Fr. Agustin Van Baelen, General Mission Secretary in the first part of a consideration of “How can we better express the Salvatorian charism through our ministries and in our mission?” He provided rich theological and historical content that helped the participants see that our task as Salvatorians is to lead people to the source of salvation seen in three dimensions: human, social & eschatological. He continued with a very interesting overview of the first steps of Fr. Jordan and the Society in which we see history repeating itself somewhat. However, like Fr. Jordan we must continue forward despite setbacks and failures.
