Fr. Lorenzo Garijo Ramírez was born on 10 August 1948, the day of his pa¬tron saint, in a small village, Rincón de Olivedo in the province of La Rioja. He went to the Latin-American Seminary of Logroño, started and guided by the Salvatorians since 1956. He became a member of the Society of the Divine Saviour, professing his first vows on 8 September 1969 at Logroño. After hav¬ing finished his studies of Philosophy and Theology, he was ordained a priest on 15 September 1974 in Logroño. Fr. Lorenzo worked in the Spanish unit as an educator, formator and parish priest and he was the Provincial Superior of the unit for two terms of office. In the 1980-ies, he was sent to Venezuela, where he became a hardworking and joyful missionary. In September 2019, at the request of the General Superior, Fr. Lorenzo was happy to go to support the Salvatorian Mission at Guatemala, where he served as a pastor among the poor. After a short period of illness, he died suddenly on 12 June 2020.
